MoJ denies privatisation plans

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has denied claims that it is actively seeking the privatisation of the courts service as it weighs up cost-saving options and ways to make the current judicial system more efficient.

If they do go ahead, the plans would free courts in England and Wales from Treasury control and mean thousands of employees and buildings would be placed into the hands of private contractors, according to information leaked in the Times.
