CompTIA, an industry association encompassing all things IT, delivered a new report recently highlighting the uptake of managed IT services by businesses and found a vast majority of companies adopting the services have been pleased with the results.
This is no doubt due in part to the cost savings recorded by companies taking on managed services for their IT needs, as 46 per cent of businesses polled in the survey recorded trimming their tech budgets by 25 per cent or more. Meanwhile, 13 per cent of companies slashed budgets by half due to managed services.
These figures contribute to another finding by CompTIA: That 89 per cent of those subscribing to managed IT services report they're "very satisfied" or "mostly satisfied" by the performance they've seen as a result.
"This is compelling evidence that managed services, even when implemented on a small scale, can deliver significant cost savings, freeing up cash for other business needs," CompTIA's Carolyn April said.
"More importantly, these savings are accomplished without impacting the availability and reliability of the technology solutions the company relies on to conduct business."
The firm suggested reasonable contracts, uptime, new and improved services, security and quick deployment all factored into the satisfaction level. Communications and reporting also contribute to a good working relationship.
"From the MSP's perspective, these are opportunities to make recommendations on new services to add to keep pace with business growth," April said. "Customers are engaged even though they’re not managing their own IT."
