Wynand has been a Lead Tech for the Intensive team for the last 4 and a half years and still loves coming into work each day.
"I've seen the company grow from just 13 people in the UK, when I joined Rackspace in 2004 to over 300 now in 2007. People often ask me why I love my job so much as I do and it's mainly because of the feeling that I'm spending time with friends and not just colleagues while being able to help customers in a positive way every day."
Wynand is the lead tech for Intensive customers and his job involves working closely with them, developing an intimate knowledge of their solution configuration so he is not only able to help the customer resolve problems but also prevent issues before they occur.
"At the end of every day I feel like I've accomplished something, and made an impact in the lives of those customers and that's what motivates me. The other major thing for me is also being able to do the right thing for the customer and not just putting quick fixes in place, we always try to do the best possible thing for the customer for the long run."
In his spare time Wynand loves to read philosophy books and meditate. He is also a very big Rugby and Cricket fan of the South African teams of course. He is also a very keen online gamer and has been involved with quite a few successful teams in different games over the last few years.

Rackspace has an Intensive Hosting division which is even more proactive for customers, where Rackspace staff become more of an extension of the customers IT department. Lead Techs are assigned to just a few companies and consequently develop an in-depth knowledge of their configuration with Rackspace, able to help not only on resolving issues but being more proactive and preventing them in the first place. The lead tech will also advise their customer on future planning and configuration needs.
